And life begins again….

I think one of the hardest things about the holidays is getting back into the swing of things once they are over.  Over the last couple of weeks we’ve had Joseph home quite a bit more, so we’ve just enjoyed time as a family.  I didn’t worry about which load of laundry went in on which day (and if you know me, that’s a HARD one!) ….I let all of the order in my life (well, OK, most of it) take a backseat and had a “go with the flow” couple of weeks.

Yesterday, life started back over.  And it was a doozy of a day.  Both babies were cranky and clingy.  Ryan was in one of his crazy, hyper moods, I was trying to get my cleaning schedule back on track (and was completely unsuccessful), and Ryan went back to school.  The bright spot in my morning was that I managed to get a shower before noon.  Unfortunately, things didn’t improve.

Our garage door has been having some issues lately.  Joseph replaced the part in the motor that had worn out, but the door was still having trouble shutting all the way.  It’s an inconvenience, but managable until Joseph had time to figure out the problem.  I took Ryan to school, and was surprised to see the door close completely the first time as I pulled out of the driveway.  When I got home, I pulled in and as the door started to close I heard some really bad noises.  When I got out of the car, I saw that half of the garage door had jumped the track and was hanging precariously over the Trailblazer.  I didn’t dare do anything other than pull in as far as I possibly could and call Joseph.  He was going to have to come home to fix it, otherwise Ryan would be stranded at preschool (which, after my morning with him was actually a rather pleasant thought 😉 ).

He managed to find a ride home for the other guy he carpooled with and then came to fix my predicament. It wasn’t nearly as bad as he thought, even though I thought it looked really bad. He managed to get it working again, but we spent the evening pricing out garage doors…yippee.

And to top that all off, Ryan came home with about 5 scissor holes in his brand new shirt yesterday. I don’t normally send him to school in clothes that I wouldn’t be OK with getting dirty or ruined, but I went out on a limb yesterday. Serves me right.

Happy New Year!

Scissor holes? Wow, that’s gotta be an interesting story! LOL What a day you had! I hope today is a better one! I know what you mean though – it was weird having Kevin back at work yesterday. We don’t have an automatic garage door opener, I pull up and unlock the door and Jakey gets out and opens the garage door, waits for me to pull in and then shuts it LOL! He asks constantly when we’re going to get a garage door opener, but I just tell him, we have one!

You always seem to have those types of days. Kyle doesn’t start school again until next week. It has been a very long week. I hope that you can get your garage door fixed quickly. Good luck with everything.

I know what you mean about the getting back into the routine again. It’s nice to have the dads home more over the holidays, but that seems to throw schedules way off. Hopefully life gets back to normal soon.
