1 Year Stats

On Friday we finally had the well-child checkup that got bumped due to the RSV.  Owen and Emmy are doing great!  Here are their latest stats:

Emmy
Weight: 21 lbs. 5 oz. (51th %tile)
Height: 29 1/4 inches (48th %tile)
Head: 46 cm (73rd %tile)

Owen
Weight: 20 lbs. 12 oz. (23rd %tile)
Height: 29 1/4 inches (17th %tile)
Head: 46 cm (35th %tile)

It’s really strange to have babies that are so average. Ryan was such a shrimp (aside from his big ‘ol head) that I’m not used to seeing such big %tile numbers (actually, seeing any %tile numbers at all)! Aside from having to deal with the eczema that Owen has due to the fair skin that comes with being a redhead, the doc doesn’t have any concerns. They endured 4 shots each and we were on our way!

We also took them for their 1 year developmental screening at the hospital on Friday. At this point they aren’t “delayed”, but we are still keeping a close eye on their skills. They’re doing fairly well based on their adjusted age, but we were given a list of activities to do with them to help with their gross motor skills, and we’ll go back in 8 weeks to determine if they’ve made enough progress to avoid having physical or occupational therapy come in. My bet is that they’ll have progressed just enough to continue working with them ourselves, but that we’ll have to continue to screen them for a while. I must say that I don’t feel too concerned about the fact that they aren’t close to walking yet…..once they are, my work load will more that double!

OMGosh..are they really a year old?! How time flies. I’m glad they are doing well, they are soo adorable. And I love that pillowcase dress you made!! I *may* try and make one for Ash… we’ll see though. I have “0” sewing skills. LOL

I have two friends who loved when they were accepted for occupational therapy. Maybe it would be a stress reliever for them to be able to come over and work with the kids for awhile. I don’t know how you do that ON TOP of just the standard take care of 3 kids job.

Kenzie was a late walker…days shy of 14 months…at the time I was dying for her to walk. I soon learned it was much easier when she didn’t! It sounds like they’re doing great though. I never realized the boy and girl percentiles were so different for the same age. Looking at percentiles Emmy sounds like she’d be so much bigger than Owen, but they’re almost identical in size. Crazy!
