Time for a tag!

November 9, 2008

I must admit that I’m a bit behind on all of the tags I’ve received.  I’m still trying to think of 6 quirks to share for everyone that tagged me on that one!  This one was easy, so I decided to do it while it’s quiet around here.  It’s a photo tag and the only rule is NO CLEANING before you take your pictures!

1.  My kitchen sink

2.  My favorite room…right now it’s probably the dining room because I just got a new picture to fill in the wall space over the table.  Also, since we rarely eat at the table, it’s a place that manages to stay clean without too much effort!

3.  Me right now…something you don’t get to see often:  me in my glasses!  One of my eyes has been bothering me a bit lately, so I’ve been taking a bit of a break from my contacts a few times a week.  It’s also bread-baking day, so I’m sporting my apron!

4.  My closet…our closet is a disaster.  We don’t even have doors on it right now, making it easy for everything to just spill out.  And how ’bout that pink trim?  Our room is going to be one of the next that gets overhauled!

5.  My fridge…a little cluttered, but I recenly cleaned off a bunch of Ryan’s preschool art, so it looks much better!  The bottom half has a countdown for Joseph’s little sister who is currently serving a mission in Australia.

6.  My laundry room….someday I’ll have a laundry room worth taking a picture of.  As for now, I’m just happy to have a washer and dryer that work and a closet door to hide them behind.

7.  My favorite shoes…this was a hard one.  I probably should have taken a picture of my slippers, since that’s what I wear most of the time.  These are comfy and versatile though, so they get worn quite a bit.

8. What my kids are doing right now…sorry, no picture for this one.  They are all sleeping, and I’m sure if I try to sneak a picture, naptime will be over!

9.  My bathroom…not very big, but it sure is purty!  I’m so happy with the job that Joseph did on the tile surround!

10.  My dream vacation….really, I’d go anywhere if I could be with my family.  I’m not sure I have a big dream destination, but I can’t wait to see the look on my kids’ faces the day that we take them here!

I’m not sure it’s fair to tag other people when I haven’t done all of the posts that I’ve been tagged on, so I’m just going to pass this along to anyone who wants to participate!

Tagged!

August 6, 2008

My friend Trish, who is currently undergoing the overwhelming adjustment period that comes with having twins, tagged me! How she found time to actually do this herself I’ll never know, but it obviously shows that she’s doing a great job with her 3 year old and 6 week olds…all boys!

Here are the rules:
1) Link to the person who tagged you
2) Post the rules on your blog (this is what you are now reading)
3) Write 6 random things about yourself (see below)
4) Tag 6 people at the end of your post and link to them
5) Let each person know they have been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6) Let the tagger know when your entry or post is up.

6 Random Things About Me:

1) I like the smell of skunks. I’m sure that would change if I was ever sprayed by one, but as long as it’s from a distance, it makes my nose happy.

2) I love fruit, but it makes my mouth itch like crazy! I don’t eat it much because it’s just too bothersome. I’ve always wondered why it couldn’t be veggies that gave me this reaction…at least that way I’d have a good excuse for not eating them.

3) I enjoy The Backyardigans. If you’ve gotta have a kid’s show going in the background, this is the one to have. Not only are the songs catchy, they are quite clever. Racing Day is probably my favorite…seriously, how can you not be entertained by a song that contains the lyrics “it’s not sausage casing day”?

4) When Joseph is out of town, I sleep on his side of the bed. After this last horrendously long trip he was on, I had a hard time giving that space up when he got home.

5) I hate stains. At 4 years old, I still make Ryan wear a bib on occasion…the poor kid. In the back of my mind I’m always thinking about how much I can sell a particular outfit for if my kids can outgrow it without staining it first.

6) Despite my lack of a green thumb, I’ve got one plant that has been thriving for 5 1/2 years. My mom’s co-workers sent it to us when we lost Zoey, and I’ve worked hard to keep it alive. It’s made two moves with us and survived them both. I love how resilient it is….I can forget to water it for weeks at a time and it always perks back up when I finally give it a drink. I think it has a special guardian angel 😉

I’ll play along to the extent of tagging six more people, but I’m way too tired to leave comments at all of your blogs….guess I’ll know who reads here and who doesn’t! Cashelle, Lisa, Jami, Michelle G., Alison, and Marsha–you’re up!

The Husband Tag!

March 13, 2008

What is your husbands name? Joseph Matt

How long have you been together? We’re coming up on 7 years this May

How long did you date? From the 1st date to our wedding day was about 5 1/2 months

Who eats more? Definately him!

Who said I love you first? He did….it took me off guard and I didn’t say anything back.

Who is taller? Joseph is, by about 6 or 7 inches

Who has more speeding tickets? I’ve never had one….he’s had too many

Who is smarter? Depends on the subject, but overall….probably him

Who is more sensitive? Me….though he doesn’t do too bad himself!

Who does the laundry? I do, but he’s always willing to help!

Who does the dishes? If I cook, he does….and vice versa

Who sleeps on the right? If you’re facing the bed, then I sleep on the right.  That changes periodically, especially when I’m pregnant and can’t get comfortable or need to be closer to the bathroom door!

Who pays the bills? I’ve always done it, but he recently took up the chore so he’d be more involved (dare I say that I think I’m better at it than he is??)

Who mows the lawn? I only mow the lawn if it’s turned into a jungle because Joseph has been too busy to get around to it.

Who cooks dinner? I’d say that I cook only slightly more often that he does.

Who drives when you are together? Joseph almost always does

Who is more stubborn? Probably me

Who is the first to admit when they’re wrong? Probably him

Who’s parents do you see more often? Hmmm…tough one.  His parents live closer, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we see them more.  I’d say it’s a toss-up.

Who has more siblings? Joseph–he has 5 sisters!

Who wears the pants in the family? Ummm….he might say that I do 😳

Who eats more sweets? Depends on the sweet….I probably eat more candy, but he drinks waaaaay more soda

Guilty pleasures? Music, politics, Homestar Runner

How did you meet?  In our student ward at USU.  We knew each other for about a year (not well though), and then the next year he was my home teacher.

Who asked who out first? He asked me out….I only went because I wasn’t fast enough to come up with a reason not to

Who kissed who first? He kissed me first

Who proposed? He did

Best Feature? I like his smile….his two front bottom teeth are crooked and for some reason I really like that!

Best personality trait? Quick sense of humor and his ability to make friends easily

Pet names? Phee

Where do I see us in 15 years? Hopefully getting ready to send out our first missionary!

What is my favorite thing about him? He puts the family before himself.  He doesn’t complain when he comes home to an exhausted wife, three whining kids, and no dinner on the table…he just takes over and gives me a break.

Next up is Emily, Marissa, Michelle, and Cynthia

Two Tags

February 25, 2008

Just trying to catch up on some of the tags I’ve received! This first one was a fun one!

20 years ago: I was 8 1/2 years old living in our first house in the Coves. I was working my tail off to save enough money to buy a bird. Just after I turned 9, I had saved enough to buy Katie. She was my little companion for all of my growing up years and she lived an amazing 17 years!

10 years ago: In my first year of college at CEU. I was having lots of fun, meeting lots of new people, and generally just enjoying life!

5 years ago: I was 7 months pregnant with Zoey. I remember counting down the days until March 1st because, from that point on, we had things planned almost every weekend and I knew the time would just fly by until my due date. Little did we know that the greatest heartache of our lives was just a couple of weeks away.  March 1st is still a hard date for me because it feels like the beginning of the end.

3 years ago: I was a completely exhausted mom of an almost-8-month-old little boy. Ryan was such a HARD baby! At 8 months old, his reflux was still bad enough that he slept in his bouncy seat next to our bed. He still needed to be swaddled. And he still only slept 15-20 minutes at a time….which meant that I never got a good night’s sleep! It was right about this point that he got rotovirus and we spent a miserable night in the hospital with him.

1 year ago: I was spending my days at Owen & Emmy’s bedside in the NICU and missing Ryan while he was away at Grandma’s house. O & E were a week and a half old, so I’m sure I was still feeling pretty crappy from the c-section.

So far this year…2008: I’ve read almost 2,000 of my 10,000 pages. I was put into the YW presidency. We celebrated O & E’s first birthday (while nursing them back to health from their RSV). We have our plans laid out for the great remodel of 2008!

Yesterday I…Went to church and taught the YW lesson. Made a turkey for dinner. Started my next book.

Today I…Got breakfast for each of the kids, have Ryan in the bathtub, and have a load of laundry started.

Tomorrow I…Hope to make a pillowcase dress for Emmy!

This year I hope to…Complete the big remodel project (preferably by summer!), finish my 10,000 pages goal, take some fun little trips with the kids, and STAY SANE!!

********************************

I’ve done this one before, but for the sake of boredom, I’ll try to do it again!

#1 Link to the person who tagged you….http://arthuradventures.blogspot.com/
#2 Post the rules on your blog.
#3 Share seven random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog.
#4 Tag 5 people at the end of your post.
# 5 Leave a comment on their blogs so that they know they have been tagged.

Okay, here goes. Seven random facts about me.

1. I always carry chapstick and fingernail clippers in my pocket

2. In the winter, I have to sleep with socks on.  In the summer, I never do.

3. I started adding purees to my food after I got Jessica Seinfeld’s Deceptively Delicious cookbook.  I know that I can’t REALLY tell that I’ve added things to my food, but just knowing that it’s there makes me not like what I’ve cooked.  Guess that means if I’m going to get my veggies in, someone else will have to be on dinner duty and sneak it all in!

4. Joseph plays the guitar fairly well and I don’t.  But I can still kick his butt at Guitar Hero!

5. I’m not much of a dessert person.

6. When I was a teacher, I started collecting children’s books.  Now that I’m a mom, I hardly ever buy them.  Go figure.

7. I kind of stole this idea off of Emily’s because it jogged a memory I hadn’t thought of in a long time…..I had a totally psycho roommate my first year at USU.  She was really weird about the phone.  She was constantly knocking on the door to see if whoever was on it was done and she would pick up the other line to listen multiple times during your converstaions.  When it wasn’t being talked on by someone else, she carried it with her everywhere.  She also had a fear about crumbs on the counters…..she was certain that they were going to attack her.  She had told the landlord that she was 26, but we later found out that she was actually in her 30’s and that the name she was using wasn’t really her name.  We had the police at our apartment more than once because she threatened to kill herself, and my mom once had a dream that she came after me with a knife.  I moved the next semester.  Thankfully, the rest of the roommates I had were perfectly normal.
